The Citizen Carpenter Award was created to recognize a member of the Council who has performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens.
This award is emblematic of the high ideals on which our organization rests and its commitment towards the betterment of our communities.
This year’s recipient is Local #276 member, Phil Green.
He founded and is the president of the Future Boxing Club in Rochester, N.Y. His purpose in creating this organization was to engage in the efforts to reduce and prevent the violence he saw in the streets of Rochester.
He has used his own financial resources to support the program and to keep it running as well as drive around in a donated old ambulance to pick up the kids who are in the program. Meanwhile, he continues to teach the children the art of anger management as a means to avoid conflict and confrontation when they are outside of the ring.
