What: The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) will host an Open House and Tour of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee’s (JAC) Apprentice School during the 26th Annual Apprenticeship Committee Contest on Friday, May 5, 2017. The competition between 4th year men and women apprentices will highlight their skills in various carpentry areas including: general carpentry, interior finish, mill cabinetry, pile-drivers and floor layers.
Who: Fourth-year apprentices who are a part of the NRCC are the contestants of the competition. The Director of the JAC Carpenters Apprentice School of Philadelphia & Vicinity, Charles Brock, will lead the open house and tour of the apprentice school. Attendees of the open house and contest to include: Jefferson Hospital, The Health and Welfare Department of Philadelphia, local elected officials and area high schools. The general public is also in attendance.
Why: The contest gives apprentices the opportunity to compete to win, which is the highest honor to receive as an apprentice-level carpenter. The tour conducted by Charles Brock, grants access to experience the specialty training that carpenters receive.
