Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters to Hold 2nd Annual Elected/Appointed Officials Reception in Jersey City

Jersey City, NJ (May 12, 2017) – The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) will hold its 2nd Annual Elected/Appointed Officials Reception on May 12th at 4 p.m. at The Westin Jersey City Newport Hotel (479 Washington Blvd, Jersey City, NJ). The reception honors all Union Carpenters and NRCC staff who have been elected/appointed officials on a local, county and state level and continually help Union members to secure man hours, build relationships with local politicians and assist with getting Project Labor Agreements approved.

 

Guest speakers include: Pennsylvania Congressman Robert Brady; Ambassador Phil Murphy, who is a Democratic candidate for New Jersey Governor; New Jersey State Senator Steve Sweeney; Former New York State Senator Jack Martins, who is currently running for Nassau County Executive; Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop; and NRCC Executive Secretary-Treasurer, John Ballantyne.

During the event, guests will hear from a distinguished panel of carpenters and dignitaries who will hold an open conversation about legislative opportunities for carpenters, experiences of being a freeholder, municipal politics, compliance/reporting and political ethics.

  • Troy Singleton, New Jersey State Assemblyman (Legislative District 7)
  • Dan Christy, Gloucester County Freeholder
  • Bruce Garganio, Burlington County Freeholder
  • Anthony Verrelli, Mercer County Freeholder
  • Anthony Macagnone, Oyster Bay Town Councilman
  • Kevin McCabe, President of the Carpenter Contractor Trust and Middlesex Co. Democratic Chairman

 “This event is about men and women carpenters and NRCC staff who have taken it upon themselves to spend hours of their own personal time to give back to the communities that we all live and work in,” said Ballantyne. “As public servants, we are in the unique and definitive position to influence decisions about work opportunities for thousands of carpenters and real, tangible results for hundreds of thousands of citizens that we represent.”
