Albany, NY— Local 291 Council Representative Peter McAnearney of The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) will be honored as the Albany County Executive’s Citizen of the Month on May 5, presented by Albany County Executive, Daniel P. McCoy.
The award ceremony, held at 10:30 a.m. in Local 291’s Council Office (1284 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205), will honor McAnearney for his hard-work and dedication to the community because of his years of service to the Albany area. Aside from being a Council Representative, he is heavily involved with a number of non-profit organizations including charitable work with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, the Ronald McDonald House and helping to rebuild the camps at Lawson Lake.
Christopher Dugan, Team Leader of Local 291, nominated McAnearney because of his continued devotion and volunteerism to Albany County.
“If anyone deserves this award, it’s Peter,” said Dugan. “I recognize him as one of the most active guys in our Local and our community, and I am thrilled to have nominated him.”
McAnearney, who is a Union Carpenter of 15 years and a NRCC Council representative for three, feels that he is not only accepting the award on behalf of himself, but also his fellow Union members.
“I use my position with the NRCC to help get other members involved with charity work in the area,” said McAnearney. “I like to do this work, and I will dedicate my award to my Brothers and Sisters who are in my Union.”
