On December 22, Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal featured a story on the latest addition to the City of Philadelphia, a new "dual-branded W Philadelphia and Element Philadelphia hotel concrete superstructure scheduled for completion in Spring 2018. The project, which is estimated to cost $240 million, currently has approximately 50 carpenters and pile drivers from the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) building the hotel development’s concrete structure."
The construction project is the result of one of the largest concrete pours in the city's history. Carney Construction, the concrete subcontractor, utilized approximately 600 trucks to deliver the concrete and facilitate the installation of around 620 tons of rebar. In May 2015, almost 5,900 cubic yards of concrete were allotted for the building.
Also involved in the development of the property is Cope Linder Architects.
