Edison, NJ (November 3, 2017) – Today, the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) announced its endorsement of Steve Fulop for Jersey City Mayor.
"I am incredibly proud to receive the support of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters," said Mayor Fulop. "We look forward to continuing to build a stronger Jersey City with the help of all of our labor unions, as they serve a major role in bringing jobs and opportunities to residents throughout Jersey City. I know that with the help of the men and women of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters we will continue moving Jersey City forward."
The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters takes the issue of endorsing elected official candidates seriously and only endorses candidates who hold the same values as we do of protecting and preserving workers’ rights. We only provide endorsements to candidates that support prevailing wage protections, encourage the use of Project Labor Agreements, fight 1099 Worker Misclassification and support fair wages and benefits for working people.
John Ballantyne, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the NRCC, believes that Fulop will continue to support the rights of middle class workers and Jersey City residents when he’s re-elected on November 7th.
“We are pleased to endorse Mayor Fulop in his re-election for Jersey City mayor, as he believes in supporting responsible bidder language, project labor agreements and other protections that support middle class construction workers,” said Ballantyne. “As Jersey City’s Mayor, Fulop will continue to bring good paying construction jobs to the City, encourage more businesses to invest and help to improve the quality of life for its residents.”
