On May 20th, various Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters’ Council Representatives, members and leaders are participating in “Walk MS: Albany 2018,” a fundraising event which raises funds for Multiple Sclerosis research. This is the second consecutive year the NRCC is a sponsor for the walk which gathers hundreds of people in Albany, New York to support the funding of cutting-edge research for the disease.
The Council's involvement in the event initially started with the request of a now retired NRCC member; Matthew Trexler, who has a sister who struggles with Multiple Sclerosis. The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters sponsored him in last year's Walk MS: Albany 2018 Walk, as well as the Boston Marathon under the name "Team Trexler."
According to the Walk MS: Albany 2018 website: "Walk MS connects people living with MS and those who care about them with one another. Every step counts. Every dollar helps. Every connection matters.
We help each person address the challenges of living with MS through our 50-state network of chapters. The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward."
The Albany MS Walk will start at 10:00 a.m. at Valley Cat Stadium in Troy, NY and will circle the entirety of the Hudson Valley Community College campus.
