Watkins Glen, NY (June 19, 2017) – Members of Local 277 in the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) recently volunteered at the Boy Scouts of America’s Camp Gorton on Waneta Lake in the Watkins Glen area of New York.

On June 9th and 10th, 36 dedicated members of Local 277 volunteered their time by removing shingles and replacing the roof from one Boy Scouts’ building at Camp Gorton.

The charitable effort was organized by Local 277 President Scott Colton and Welliver Construction Services. Colton, a 35-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, understands the importance of having Union Carpenters participate in volunteer opportunities, and said he felt honored to facilitate this charitable project between the NRCC, Welliver and the Boy Scouts of America.

“It was a pleasure to be able to play a key role in gathering the carpenters together and working with Welliver Construction on this project,” said Colton. “It’s great to see our Brothers and Sisters come together to help out the community.”
