The Pinnacle Cos. is partnering with The Hampshire Cos. in the development of downtown Montclair's first new hotel in decades, the firms said Monday.

The developers also said Chicago-based Aparium Hotel Group will manage the 148-room property, which will be known as The MC and will be part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The firms are expected to break ground this spring after submitting final construction plans next month.

The luxury boutique hotel, estimated to cost $35 million, will sit at Bloomfield Avenue and Orange Road.

The eight-story facility will include a rooftop bar, farm-to-table restaurant, conference center and a public art atrium, according to a news release. Pinnacle also said the hotel’s food and beverage program will serve a lobby market, a full-service restaurant and bars on the ground level and rooftop, with a public atrium will provide a forum for art and cultural exhibitions.

The hotel is part of Pinnacle’s CentroVerde project in Montclair’s central business district, which includes the Valley & Bloom mixed-use development of 258 apartments and 50,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. That portion broke ground in 2013.
