NRCC Participates in Walk MS: Albany 2018

On May 20th, various Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters’ Council Representatives, members and leaders are participating in “Walk MS: Albany 2018,” a fundraising event which raises funds for Multiple Sclerosis research. This is the second consecutive year the NRCC is a sponsor for the walk which gathers hundreds of people in Albany, New York to support the funding of cutting-edge research for the disease.

The Council's involvement in the event initially started with the request of a now retired NRCC member; Matthew Trexler, who has a sister who struggles with Multiple Sclerosis. The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters sponsored him in last year's Walk MS: Albany 2018 Walk, as well as the Boston Marathon under the name "Team Trexler."

Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters Tri-State Carpenters Work with Make-A-Wish Foundation to Construct Treehouse for Child with Autoimmune Disease

Wayne, PA – Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters’ Tri-State Locals (Locals 158, 164, 167 and 173) teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as volunteers from EDA Contractors’ employees and fabrication shop and Roofers Union Local 30, to build a fully fabricated treehouse for Kaia Ettingoff, a 4-year old girl battling a rare autoimmune disease from Pennsylvania.

Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters to Host United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Eastern District Drywall and Flooring Olympics in Edison, New Jersey

Edison, New Jersey –  On Saturday, May 19th from 8-11 a.m., the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) will host the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBCJA) Eastern District Drywall and Flooring Olympics at the new, state-of-the-art Carpenters Training Center in Edison, NJ at 75 Fieldcrest Avenue.

Philadelphia, PA (May 14, 2018) --The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters today announced their list of endorsed candidates for tomorrow’s Pennsylvania Primary election.

NRCC Apprentice and Training Fund Recognized as "Business Partner of the Year" by NJ Council of County Vocational-Technical Studies

The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) Apprentice and Training Fund was recently recognized as a “Business Partner of the Year” by the New Jersey Council of County Vocational-Technical Studies. Additionally, Northeast Carpenters Apprentice Training and Educational Fund Executive Director Ridgeley Hutchinson was awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools for an exemplary commitment to career technical education and training.

Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters Endorses Mikie Sherrill for U.S. Congress

Edison, NJ –  The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) is pleased to announce its endorsement of Mikie Sherrill in her campaign for a U.S. House of Representatives seat (NJ-11th District) in the United States Congress. Sherrill is running in New Jersey’s June 5th Primary Election.

The NRCC will be holding an endorsement event – open to the media – on May 12th at the Parsippany Police Athletic League (33 Baldwin Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054) at 11 a.m.

The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters Endorses Richard Lazer for Congress

PHILADELPHIA –  Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) is pleased to announce its endorsement of Richard Lazer in his campaign for U.S. House of Representatives seat (PA-5th District) in the United States Congress. Lazer previously worked as the Philadelphia Deputy Mayor for Labor alongside Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney. Lazer is running in Philadelphia’s May 15th Primary Election.

"I'm proud to have the support of the skilled men and women of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters,” said Richard Lazer. “The broad support that I've received from organized labor validates my belief that the issues I've been fighting for – like a single-payer healthcare system; pay equity; and ending so-called "right-to-work" and "paycheck protection" legislation – are the same issues that matter most to working families." 

Peter J. McGuire Scholarship Awarded to Union County College Labor/Vocational Students

On April 11th, the first-ever Peter J. McGuire Organized Labor Scholarship, an award developed by unions to highlight students involved in organized labor and vocational/trade studies, was awarded to Union County College students Tonisha Castellano, Jessica Felix and Dennys Nunez.

“Union County College places great emphasis on the importance of organized labor and provides many educational opportunities for students interested in pursuing a trade that can lead to a lucrative, professional career,” said Anthony Abrantes, who is the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters’ Local 254 Team Lead and Senior Council Representative as well as a Trustee on the Board of the Union County College Foundation. “This scholarship showcases the commitment to providing the most skilled workforce possible.”

Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters to Host Sisters in the Brotherhood Pre-Apprentice Program Information Sessions in Albany, New York

May 8, 2018 – Albany, New York –  On May 14th and 15th, the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) will host four information sessions for the Sisters in the Brotherhood (SIB) Pre-Apprentice Program for women in the Albany, NY region interested in pursuing a rewarding and lucrative career as a Union carpenter.

The information sessions will take place at these locations in the region:
