Robert Naughton is the Tri-State Regional Manager for the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC). The Council represents nearly 40,000 hardworking men and women in Delaware and New Jersey and portions of Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania. NRCC is one of the largest trade unions on the East Coast.
As Tri-State Regional Manager, Naughton has the responsibility of: managing Council staff and operations in the City of Philadelphia and its surrounding suburban counties, the commonwealth of Delaware and all of central and eastern Maryland; organizing campaigns; developing and fostering relationships with associations, contractors, developers and elected officials; assisting in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and jurisdictional issues; and expanding work opportunities for Union membership in the Mid-Atlantic.
In addition to his position as Tri-State Regional Manager, Naughton is the trustee with the NRCC’s Carpenters Benefits Funds of Philadelphia, Northeast Carpenters Funds, Mid-Atlantic Carpenters Funds, Philadelphia Apprenticeship Fund and Mid-Atlantic Training Funds. He is also a member of the Executive Finance Committee for the Northeast Carpenters Funds as well as the conductor of the NRCC. He is also a trustee on the Carpenter Contractor Trust board of directors and a board member of the Carpenters Benefit Services Inc.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Robert was the President of Local 1595 and held various positions within this former Local.
Robert was an organizer for the former Metropolitan Regional Council of Carpenters (MRC) in 1996 and became the Director of Organizing in 1999. He held this position until 2016, when the MRC was absorbed into the NRCC and he was elevated to the Tri-State Regional Manager.
Robert started his career as a carpenter in 1979 as an apprentice and he graduated as a journeyman in 1983. Throughout his career, Robert worked in all phases of the carpentry trade as an apprentice, journeyman and superintendent. Working with his tools, he helped to build a number of projects throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including the Limerick Power Plant, King of Prussia Mall and Willow Grove Mall. Robert’s carpentry specialty included surveying and interior fit-out work on these projects.
