TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Parts of a floating concrete batch plant being used to build the new Tappan Zee Bridge collapsed Tuesday.
Tappan Zee construction officials say it happened when a silo structure on the plant failed. The failure caused two other silo structures to collapse. Officials say no workers were harmed in the incident. Operations on both floating concrete batch plants were shut down, but other work was still being done.Representatives from the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Thruway Authority, and engineers are now assessing the damage.
