William Banfield is the New York Regional Manager for the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters. The Council represents nearly 40,000 hardworking men and women in Delaware and New Jersey and portions of Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania and is one of the largest trade unions on the East Coast.
As New York Regional Manager, Banfield has the responsibility of: managing Team Leads, Council Representatives and Administrative Assistants; organizing campaigns; developing and continuing relationships with contractor associations, contractors, developers and elected officials; negotiating with collective bargaining agreements, jurisdictional issues, state and local Building Trades Councils; and expanding work opportunities for Union membership. He also works closely with the New York Local Unions 276, 277, 279, 290 and 291 in dealing with member issues and Council objectives.
In addition to his position as New York Regional Manager, Banfield is second Vice President of the NRCC, Trustee on the Northeast Carpenters Funds and Vice President of the New York State Building and Construction Trades Council.
William has been a carpenter for 31 years and started in the organization in the carpenters’ apprentice program in the former Local 493 in Mount Vernon, NY part of the Westchester District Council of Carpenters. During his career, William worked on numerous projects throughout Tri-State area and worked in various aspects of the carpentry industry.
In 1998, Banfield became an Organizer for the Suburban New York Regional Council of Carpenters, which was then merged into the Empire State Regional Council, where he was later elevated to Regional Manager. During this time, he held various positions with then Local 11 including Recording Secretary, Vice President and President as well as Trustee to the Empire Funds.
William lives in Brewster, NY with his wife Tricia of 30 years and their daughters Paige and Kate.
